Ashley Irving

Ashley is a trusted legal recruitment partner with over 15 years of experience and a reputation for her personalised, people-led approach.

Originally from the UK, Ashley studied Law (LLB) and completed the Legal Practice Course in the Southeast of England before relocating permanently to Australia.

​

She spent nearly eight years as National Recruitment Lead at Tier 1 global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, where she led end-to-end legal recruitment across all practice groups, from newly qualified lawyers through to Partner level. She also played a key role in hiring for critical support functions including Human Resources and Business Development.

Prior to her in-house role, Ashley worked for a global recruitment agency, where she led high-performing teams across the legal and HR sectors. This blend of agency and internal experience gives her a uniquely well-rounded perspective — understanding what top talent looks for in a move, and what firms need in a hire.

Ashley is known for her tailored, transparent, and relationship-first style. She brings care and strategic insight to every search, always working in the best interests of both her candidates and her clients. With a deep understanding of the private practice landscape and the challenges firms face in attracting and retaining legal talent, she’s committed to building lasting partnerships — and making the right moves.

Outside of work, Ashley is a mum to three boys and enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering at her sons’ school, travelling the world — and the occasional run.
